Roger's 18th Birthday Present

Before

This truck was given to the family by Roger's Papaw, Leland Pate.  This was Roger's truck long before he was legally able to drive.  He used it to practice driving and even jumped ramps on "The Back Forty".  The truck was to be given to Roger on his 16th Birthday with a new motor.  That day never came.  So in Roger's honor we continued to restore the truck in a way we thought Roger would have liked.

The truck was running great but it still didn't look good.  Roger rode dirt bikes and was into racing, so checker board or racing flags was a good idea for the truck.  But Roger also liked flames, which is what he told his mom he wanted.  So this prototype was made to incorporate both racing and fire.  We think Roger would have liked this.  We still had a lot of work to do on the truck at this point.

After

Roger's truck was finished Saturday March 20th 2004, his 18th Birthday.  All work was done by Dr. John's in Meridian, MS.  There are still more things we would like to do to customize the truck in a way Roger might have done himself.  We will post new pictures whenever we do something else.  If you knew Roger and have any suggestions on what we should do to the truck please feel free to email us.  We will post all suggestions here. Thank You.

We had decided that the truck needed a bed liner. So we went with a black spray-in bed liner. Then we thought it still needed something so we made a design for it.

We then made a stencil out of vinyl. Then we took the truck back to Dr. John's and he applied the vinyl and then painted parts of the bed liner white. And this is how it turned out. Pretty neat huh?

We have not decided whether we should paint the 320 red yet. What do you think?
